Course Objective

The aim of this course is to understand and interpret the historical process of EU-Türkiye relations in the context of the Ankara Agreement, the Customs Union Agreement and the candidacy process. In addition, it is aimed to evaluate the changes in the political, cultural, social and economic fields of relations since the 1950s.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to interpret EU-Türkiye relations from past to today
2   To be able to understand the stages and importance of association process which started with Ankara Aggrement
3   To be able to analyze the historical background and its impact on Türkiye's EU candidacy process
4   To be able to understand the place and importance of customs union in Türkiye-EU relations
5   To be able to analyze Türkiye's negotiation process and the latest point in the negotiation process
