Course Objective

This course aims to examine the basic concepts related to physical planning. The concepts may have different definitions under different conditions. Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to compare the use of these concepts in everyday life and in the literature, understand the potential effect of these concepts on social power.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to list the elements in concept of planning, urban design, rural development and environment
2   to describe urbanization
3   to interpret the emergence of sustainability, restoration, natural site and cultural site
4   to analyze the importance of elements in urbanization and their interaction
5   to integrate the features of nature with urban production and the impacts of one upon the other
6   to evaluate the importance of nature and ecological planning in formation of urban areas

Listing and describing activities are evaluated by the Presentation. Analysis, Integration, Interpretation and Evaluation activities are assessed by the Take Home which represents the Final Exam.

The course will continue in the form of conference presentations and discussions. Question-answer technique will also be used to increase students' interest / motivation for the lesson.
