Course Objective

The aim of this course is to develop a scientific scheme for the analysis of economic facts and problems while being able to distinguish the scientific knowledge from other types of knowledge.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to be able to distinguish the differences between methods, approaches and techniques.
2   to be able to evaluate the must-have feautures of scientific theories.
3   to be able to show the differences between scientific approaches.
4   to be able to assess economic theories within the framework of science, positive science and normative science concepts.
5   to be able to apply formal requirements for the scientific work.
6   to be able to examine economic theories within the framework of the philosophy of science.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Dialectical methods of teaching are chosen in this course in order to push the students to think and question. Each topic is first explained in a certain perspective and then reevaluated from the opposite point of view so that the students can raise their own questions in their minds.
