Course Objective

The aim of this course is to train individuals who will be able to understand the importance, theoretical foundations, scope and relationships of guidance services and fulfill their roles in guidance services functionally. In addition, students who complete this course will be able to describe basic information about children with special needs and the field of special education.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to; define the basic concepts related to guidance and special education,
2   explain the factors that cause disability requiring special education,
3   explain the principles on which the guidance is based,
4   implement appropriate guidance activities for different educational levels; describe individuals with different types of disabilities and their characteristics
5   comprehend individual recognition techniques, application and interpretation
6   comprehend the importance of guidance services in the contemporary education system.
7   know the education and inclusion practices of students with special needs and integrating the practices with their own teaching field
8   implement services for families and educational guidance works and know the feelings of families of children with disabilities.
