Course Objective

Despite the intensive training of the students on the development of Greek civilization for 3 years, they begin to receive the first comprehensive information about the Roman Civilization, which started to be seen in the 4th grade, in the 4th grade. Although they don't know the mythology, religious or state organization terminology, they start to learn Roman sculpture, architecture, ceramics and numismatics. Due to the fact that the contents of these courses are necessarily too full, the new terminology cannot be covered comprehensively. Therefore, at the end of 3 years, they do not find the possibility to learn much about the terminology related to the religion and state structure of the Roman Civilization, which they saw for the first time in the 4th grade. In this context, in this course, it is aimed to explain the terminology related to the political structure, religious structure and state structure of the Roman Civilization. At the same time, it is aimed to explain the social structure, in short, by examining the elements related to the entire cultural history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learning how a small Latin tribe transformed into a great Roman Empire and the stages it went through.
2   Establishment of the Roman Kingdom Ensuring that the relations with the Etruscans and the Hellenic colonies are learned in the historical index
3   Understanding the subject by analyzing the Hellenic and Etruscan influences in the formation of the state organization, religion and state mechanisms in the Roman Kingdom period in a cause-effect relationship
4   To provide an understanding of the reasons for the establishment of the Roman Republic.
5   Understanding the characteristics of the social structure and classes in the Roman Republican period
6   Ensuring that the process of dominating Italy and the Mediterranean during the Roman Republic period contributed to the Roman Civilization economically and culturally.
7   Ensuring that the terminology related to the state structure of the republican period is learned
8   Learning the terminology related to the religious structure of the republican period
9   Providing an understanding of the economic and social structure of the republican period
10   Learning the existence and organizational structures of the Romans in Anatolia
11   Ensuring that the reasons for the transition to the Roman Empire period are examined and learned
12   Learning the changing terminology in the state structure of the Roman Empire period compared to the Republican period.
13   To provide an understanding of all the elements related to the economic and social structure of the Roman Imperial period.
14   Learning the existence and organizational structures of the Romans in Anatolia
