Course Objective

Explaining the diffrences of teaching turkish as mother tongue and foreign language. Associating teaching turkish as a second language to cultural dimensions of language teaching. Theoritical discussions about teaching other languages of world and methodological approaches of the field. Theorotical framework of teaching a foreign language. Introduction of European Language Portfolio. Contribution of teaching Turkish to promotion of Turkey. Introduction and criticising of coursebooks which are used for teaching Turkish to foreigners.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defines the basic concepts of Turkish as a foreign language.
2   Comprehends the differences between teaching Turkish as a mother tongue and a foreign language.
3   Gains knowledge about the programs, contents and problems of teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
4   Knows the contents of the textbooks used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
5   Knows how to apply the methods and techniques used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
6   Develops materials that can be used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
7   Comprehends how to apply measurement and evaluation techniques in teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
