Course Objective

This course aims at providing information and knowledge to the students - after stating the position of linguistics in the computer engineering discipline - on computer software developed by making use of the findings of linguistics and other related disciplines. In this course the students will become knowledgeable about the computer software implemented in phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, summarizing, translation and lexicography.

1   explain how linguistics is used in computer technologies;
2   explain how morphological parsers operate;
3   explain how syntactic parsers operate;
4   operate the software used in phonetic and phonological analyses;
5   evaluate how various types of corpora could be built.
