Course Objective

The objective of the course is to provide the student with basic knowledge about lexicography and to enable him/her to estimate the quality of dictionaries. Furthermore, it is the aim of the course to allow the student to gain knowledge on the usage of dictionaries. In this respect, the student will be informed of theoretical and practical issues in lexicography.

1   To list and define theoretical knowledge on lexicography
2   To obtain literature for the compilation of a dictionary
3   To compile a dictionary working in a group
4   To study and analyse the structure of a dictionary
5   To identify the quality of a dictionary.
