General Description

History

Mouth and Dental Health Program opened at Dokuz Eylul University School of Health Services for academic year 2017-2018.The language of instruction for Oral and Dental Health is Turkish. Formal education is provided. Student competencies are determined by theoretical and practical exams and clinical applications. Oral and Dental Health students benefit from modern, world-class equipped, technological laboratories. In our university internet support is adequate and open for student use. Also, students have free access to computer labs. The library of DEU has sufficient equipment and data in terms of education, training and research. Our university also offers its students a wide range of recreation opportunities in which they can have social, cultural and sporting activities in their free time. A rich data base is available consisting from a wide range of books, e-books and journals related to The Oral and Dental Health Program student s education and the other topics they want to do research in-depth. In addition, there are many computers with high technological qualities that can be assigned to each one of our students.

Vocational high school diploma or high school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

its aimed to create a general gframework in which the main elemants and princeples related to oral and dental health education are determined on a natural scale, and thus to provide a certain standard in all pre-greduate education practices in our country ın line with the national oral and dental health education principles and approches

Key Learning Outcomes

1   Students studying in the field of oral and dental health can effectively master of professional concepts, theories and practices used in their fields.
2   To be able to interpret and evaluate data, define and analyze problems, and develop evidence-based solutions using the basic knowladge and skills acquired in the field.
3   To have the ability to design, plan and project development using the professional environment and tools related to the field.
4   To have the knowladge and skills to understand the basic concepts nin the field of oral and dental health, to use the modern methods and technologies uced in the field of oral and dental health.
5   Taking responsibility as a team member to solve complex problems encountered and unforeseen in the field of application.
6   Ability to critically evaluate the basic knowladge and skills acquired in the field, identify an meet learning needs.
7   To be abla to direct his/her education to an advanced education lavel in the same field or to a profession at the same level.
8   To be awaew of lifelong learning.
9   To be able to convey his/her thoughts through written and verbal communication at the level of basic knowladge and skills in the field.
10   To be able to share thought and solutions to problems related to the field with experts or non-experts.
11   To be able to use information and communication technologies together with computer software at the basic level of a European Computer License required by field.
12   To gain the ability to apply by examining the processes in public and private sector organizations on site.
13   Being awera of universality of social rights, social justice, quality and cultural values, enviromental protection, occupational health and safety issues.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

while the practicak courses exams of the students taken the courses are made in form of face-to-face practice in the labrory/clinical environment, the exams of theoretical courses are made in the form of written exam.

Graduation Requirements

Short Cycle (The Associate's Degree) is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, including two internships acquired 120 ECTS and have Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 60 on a 100 scale and no failing grades.
