Course Objective

This course will enhance student's writing, reading, speaking and listening skills with the use of communicative approach.at pre-intermediate level using student centered techniques

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to use the vocabulary and the grammar at pre-intermediate level
2   Be able to read and understand the texts written in English at pre-intermediate level.
3   Be able to understandand answer question at pre-intermediate level.
4   Be able to write in English at pre-intermediate level.
5   Be able to speak in English at pre-intermediate level.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Question Forms be. Vocabulary: Mexican, married.etc.Pronunciation: The phonetic alphabet.
2 Question Forms-do. Speaking: Asking questions about people.Writing: Introducing people.(continuance of the unit)
3 The Simple Past Tense. Vocabulary:Daily Activities: make the bed, get dressed etc. Speaking: Talking about a typical day.
4 The Simple Past tese sentences questions and short answers.Vocabulary: Life events: be born, get a job etc. Writing: Life events in the past.Speaking:Asking questions and getting answers about meeting people in the past.
5 The Present Perfect Tense- Positive and negative sentences.Vocabulary:Past participles of regular and irregular verbs.Writing: Life experiences.Listening: Life experiences of other people,answering related questions.
6 The Present Perfect Tense- yes / no questions and short answers-wh-questions and answers.Speaking:Asking and answering questions on perfect tense. (continuance of the unit ) The Present Perfect Tense and The Simple Past Tense- Structural differences. Differences on meaning.Speaking:talking about finished actions.
7 Midterm Exam - The Present Perfect Tense- yes / no questions and short answers-wh-questions and answers.Speaking:Asking and answering questions on perfect tense. (continuance of the unit ) The Present Perfect Tense and The Simple Past Tense- Structural differences. Differences on meaning.Speaking:talking about finished actions.
8 Midterm Exam - The Present Continuous Tense and The Present Simple Tense- Speaking: Asking people what they are doing and reporting the answers to the class. Vocabulary: At the bus stop: discount fare, etc.
9 The Present Continuous Tense and The Present Simple Tense- Speaking: Asking people what they are doing and reporting the answers to the class. Vocabulary: At the bus stop: discount fare, etc.
10 The Past Continuous Tense- Sentences and negative sentences.Vocabulary: directions,places: through the park, over the bridge. Writing: About a finished event.
11 The Past ContinuousTense-Questions and short answers.Speaking: Asking and answering about a past event.(continuance of the unit )
12 Be going to. Vocabulary:The Earth: North America, The Amazon, etc.
13 Be going to.Speaking: talking about future plans. (continuance of the unit )
14 Adjectives and adverbs.Vocabulary:Describing people: short,attractive etc. Describing events: He walks slowly.
