Course Objective

The aim of this course is to explore the general tourism operations and their reliance with business ethics and regulations. Students will be learning various ethical theories and characteristics of moral principles especially in relation to hospitality industry. At the end of the subject, students will be able to identify the various ethical issues and regulations in the hospitality industry and evaluate the implications of these issues and regulations to the relevant stakeholders of the industry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to discuss and evaluate the general tourism operations and theirs reliance with business ethics and regulations
2   Students will be able to discuss various ethical theories and characteristics of moral principles.
3   Students will also be able to identify various ethical issues and regulations in the hospitality industry and evaluate the implications of these issues and regulations to the relevant stakeholders of the industry.
4   Students will be able to make sound decisions on any ethical issue in the hospitality workplace in respect to the economic, social and political aspects to the situation.
5   Students will be able to apply ethical theories in solving ethical issues in tourism and hospitality industry.
