Course Objective

This course aims to introduce new trends in audiovisual translation studies on a global scale.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   comprehend the prominence and position of this rapidly growing academic field of research in the digital age.
2   distinguish between audiovisual translation and other modes of translation in terms of their contribution to the advancements in the theory and practice of translation studies.
3   explore in addition to subtitling, dubbing and voice-over, specific modes of audiovisual translation such as audiodescription and subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing.
4   explore the constraints and opportunities in audiovisual practice and research both in Türkiye and countries worldwide such as Spain, Italy and Poland.
