Course Objective

The course objective is to define the cultural background of Feminist Theory and have students a grasp of which need it has been derived from.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the history, strategies, and goals of the four waves of feminism
2   Discuss the issues of gender and gender inequality from a variety of feminist theoretical perspectives such as liberalism, marxism, socialism, postmodernism
3   Analyze gender in terms of power relations;
4   Analyze major works and ideas of prominent feminist theorists
5   Practice critical thinking through evaluating works of Turkish and non-Turkish feminist scholars
