Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of strategic significance of production and operations, and how these may aid companies to develop competitive advantage in the marketplace. Accordingly, the objective of the course is to help students understand the relationships between production and operations and other business functions, and develop a perspective on designing and managing operations by focusing on fundamental concepts and terminology used in production and operations management including inventory management, layout design, and service operations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1)define the fundamental concepts and strategies of Production and Operations Management,
2   2)define the relationship between Production and Operations Management, and other business functions, and how to create competitive advantage through operations,
3   3)understand the problems related with Production and Operations Management and interpret practical solutions to those problems.
4   4) predict the implications of strategic and tactical decisions on the company s success
