Course Objective

The objective of this course is to make students become aware of the impact of financial environment on businesses. The course aims to assist students to make sound business decisions by using economic and financial parameters.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identify the components of the financial system in order to understand the interrelationships among them. (Level 1).
2   Explain the payment system pointing out the types and functions of money. (Level 2)
3   Recognize the factors that influence interest rates in order to illustrate interest rate behavior and determination. (Level 2).
4   llustrate the functioning of the financial institutions and markets in order to describe the financial environment. (Level 2).
5   Identify the structure and functioning of central banks in order to understand the policy implications of the Turkish Central Bank through a group study. (Level 2).
6   Interpret the monetary and fiscal policy tools in order to employ economic and financial indicators in decision making (Level 2).
