Course Objective

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with unique terms, literary genres, and structural characteristics of literary language and to teach how to use these terms. Displaying the changes in Old, Middle and Modern English is another aim.

1   Acquire required conceptual ant theoritical knowledge for literary translation
2   Understand lexical, grammatical, and textual structures of English and Turkish
3   Acquire advanced reading and writing skills in English
4   Work individually or in a group

5 Sonnet forms Spenserian, Petrarchan, Shakespearean sonnets, blank and free verse
6 Imagism in poetry, metaphysicals, conceit, hyperbole

8 Irony, satire, parody, burlesque, caricature, light comedy
