Course Objective

The main goal of this course is to give a general evaluation about the process of modern turkish democracy and its stages

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know scope, field and sources of history of Turkish democracy
2   understand political and democratic heritage taken over from the Ottoman Empire
3   examine the process of democratization of Türkiye in comparison with the West
4   analyze breaking points in the process of democratization from Empire to Republic
5   describe causes of problems which the democracy lived in Republican Period

1. LO 1-3 will be asked in mid-term exam
2. LO 4-5 will be assessed with term paper report
3. LO 1-5 will be asked in final exam

2. Failure to attend a class will not be excused for overdue delivery of homework
3. Attendance, mid-term exam, homeworks and final exam will be taken into account in scoring
