Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to focus on current theory and research on gender, feminist psychology and LGBTI issues. In addition, gender related issues like violence against women, masculinity-femininity, and sexuality will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Provide a broad, engaging overview of gender-related psychological theory and research
2   Think critically about the gender beliefs and attitudes we encounter on a daily basis.
3   Provide a broad, engaging overview of feminist psychology
4   Define and differentiate sexual orientation and gender identity
5   Familiarize with the experiences of LGBTI individuals
6   Have a grasp of some current theories, models, and empirical research in domestic violence
