Course Objective

The objective of this course is to examine how the Classical Modernity has influenced Turkish and European Literatures at the end of the 19th century by means of shared motifs and themes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To recognize the relation between Fin de siecle literature and the Notion of finiteness.
2   To evaluate Fin de siècle literature as the beginning of modernity in the classical sense.
3   To evaluate shared motifs of European and Turkish literatures in this period.
4   To define the period of Fin de siècle as a supracultural period in literary history.
5   To compare European and Turkish Fin de siècle literature by means of text analysis.
