Course Objective

To follow the international and national literature on social movements and to deal with the basic concepts and theories of the field. To make the historical process of social movements in the world and in Türkiye comprehensible.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understanding the conceptualization of movements within the framework of social movement theories,
2   To be able to analyze current social movements with the acquired conceptual and theoretical knowledge,
3   Understanding the classifications and theories of social movements,
4   To analyze the historical evolution of social movements,
5   Understanding social movement analysis through primary sources.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, apart from the lecturer's lectures, students are expected to come to class prepared by reading the articles shared on the Sakai system every week. Therefore, the lecturer uploads first-hand sources in the system every week in accordance with the next course program. Students are expected to read the relevant texts.
