Course Objective

The objective of this course is to give the students a perspective about classics in world literature.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, the students will be able; To use their knowledge about texts recognized as canonical in literature studies.
2   To answer questions like what is the concept of canon and when is a literary work classified as canonical .
3   To analyze texts by using theories of literature.
4   To do research based on their knowledge they have gained in this course.
5   To analyze the effects of canonical texts on contemporary literature.

1. The examinations are prepared in a way that they will evaluate the students ability to assess the knowledge they get during the classes with a critical perspective.
2. Students are expected to give answers to open-ended questions so that they can develop their ability to write academically. Fort his reason, the answers should be in the essay form.
