Course Objective

The course aims to teach the cultural history of the phases of Ancient Aegean Minoan, Mycenaean, Protogeometric, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic Periods by focusing on material data. The arts of sculpture, architecture, pottery, painting and mosaics constitute the core of the course. Visual materials including objects of art and find will be presented.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ancient Greek pottery making is narrated through pottery painting
2   Terminology related to pottery and painting will be given
3   Small objects from Greek period will be presented
4   Technical and artistic characteristics of bronze objects from Greek period are taught
5   Students will be learn how to describe finds from Greek period
