Course Objective

During the course social identities, in-group and intergroup phenomenons are scrutinized. The course aims students to gain skills to evaluate psychological dimensions of real world events such as small group life to large scale intergroup affairs (e.g. wars).

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identifiying the concepts related to social identities, in and intergroup events
2   Having large knowledge about the social psychological theories on social identities and groups
3   Being able to plan research on social identities and in-inter group events
4   Being able to analyse real word events in the light of the psychological theories
5   Being able to evaluate intergroup relationships on the emic-ethic dimension
6   Using appropriate methods in evaluating group phenomenons
7   Being able to analyse the relationship between the individual and the group
