Course Objective

Today, in the field of occupational health and safety, despite the achievements, there is a picture that reminds us of the industrial revolution years. The aim of the course is to analyze this picture in terms of social politics. The protection of employees against occupational accidents and diseases is a fundamental element of social justice. However, occupational accidents and occupational diseases cause death of more than 2.3 million workers every year. Prevention of occupational accidents and diseases requires a determined effort. With prevention, the risk can be avoided or eliminated. Otherwise, workers, businesses and the country as a whole will suffer.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to define employer's obligation of taking measures of workplace health and safety
2   Being able to determine the provisions of occupational health and safety and comprehend bounden prosedure
3   Being able to understand fault-based and strict liability of the employer and determine its limits
4   Being able to identify and apply the rules of occupational health and safety
5   Being able to examine and solve problemes related to Labor law matters in the light of the decisions of the Supreme Court faced in working life
