Course Objective

The course aims to enable students to use typography not only for reading but also to transform it into a visual that will match the content. The work to be done in this direction starts with a single letter and gradually becomes more complex. Students are allowed to choose their own methods, materials and presentation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to merge the knowledge and skills gained with the new method and use it in a creative way in design management
2   To be able to have the software and material knowledge and merge those knowledge associate with correct field
3   To be able to present the projects in an unexpected and a creative way
4   To be able to have access to free expression out of the basic design principles

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Sharing the content and purpose of the course with students. Presentation of Illustrative Typography through examples. Transferring the projects to be done throughout the semester to the students and determining the scope of the project the student will work on for the next lesson. WEEK 1
2 Finalizing the project topics and scopes through criticism based on the examples students have obtained as a result of their research. Giving the project brief and theoretical information about production. PROJECT 1: LETTER INITIAL WEEK 2
3 Sketch and critique. WEEK 3
4 Selecting the appropriate sketch and carrying out the original work. WEEK 4
5 Presentation and project evaluation. WEEK 5
6 Project 2: WORD COVER Giving the project brief and theoretical information about production. Sketch work begins. WEEK 6
7 Sketch and critique. WEEK 7
8 Sketch and critique. WEEK 8
9 Selecting the appropriate sketch and carrying out the original work. WEEK 9
10 Presentation and project evaluation. WEEK 10
11 Project 3: SENTENCE DOUBLE PAGE DESIGN (SPREAD) Giving the project brief and theoretical information about production. Sketch work begins. WEEK 11
