Course Objective

This class aims to analyse organizations of images with the opportunities of written and verbal narratives, by focusing on the problem of generating visuals and images through works like painting, photography, film, video and performance. It tries to find a way into the universe of meaning and connotation of a chosen image (a symbol). It intends to reproduce meaning by emphasizing the privilege of an organization of images within the context of contemporary art theory and philosophy.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   understand the process of analyzing art as a problem of consciousness and awareness
2   embrace the consistency of approach of analyzing a work of art through signs as a phenomenon of visual culture,
3   witness that art analysis and critism can be analysed by connected processes within the boundaries of a sequenced logic.
4   know that the historical, cultural and political data about the development of societies and art will help with a clearer identification of a work of art.
5   see that a better context for production of meaning will be provided through the appropriate use of information about the work of art, the artist and the viewer.
