Course Objective

This course aims to examine the varying forms of agitation in art and design from political propaganda to design activism since the 1960s, to question how art and design affect social change, to analyze both alternative and socially responsible designs, to focus on art s and design s role in society, to give seminars about these problems, to write research papers, to make literature reviews, discussions, readings and to offer suggestions related to chosen subjects in advanced level. In addition to these aims, this course aims to evaluate and analyze about how social and aesthetics aspects of art and design are interpreted and represented in different ways at advanced level

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to have an analytical, conceptual and critical point of view by analyzing the effects of socio cultural, technological and ideological changes on art and design and designers-artists since the 1960s at advanced level.
2   To be able to examine the art and design products, designers and artists in the context of multiplism, multiculturalism, multinationalism, eclectic and globalization at advanced level.
3   To be able to develop his/her presentation skills, to write research papers and to think critically about related subjects and postmodern theories of art and design at advanced level.
4   To be able to both to grasp the culture of art and design and to recognize the interactions between popular culture and art and design in the context of art and design at advanced level.
5   To be able to examine and transfer to the field of study the works of interdisciplinary art and design created by the awareness of social responsibility during the 1960s
