Course Objective

The aim of this course is to define the depict mentality formed in the East throughout history, in political and geographical borders in terms of, primarily, book paintings, and discuss them in terms of orientalist point of view and today s practises.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   After the education given with this course, the students are supposed to know the political, geographical and cultural borders of the East before and after Islam,
2   assess the depict savvy existed in the East and developed in book paintings in the context of mentality and points of view,
3   define `East Painting personally and explain the fiction and visual forms in the depicts related to this definition,
4   discuss the East painting from the point of view of orientalism,
5   scrutinise the connections between the definitions and concepts of the Eastern painting scientifically.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, we will assess what the definitions of `East mean today, discuss the painting viewpoints emerging in the East, and make a visual explanation of Eastern painting. Students are asked to make a presentation about the topics determined at the beginning of the term and summit the presentation as a report.

Reports and/or presentations are taken at the end of the term and final exam is evaluated by 100 points.
