Course Objective

The aim of the course is to teach the usage of analysis methods in deciding security invesments and the operation of capital market

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to learn the institutions of capital market and the operation of the market.
2   To be able to learn the capital market instruments.
3   To be able to establish connection between different economic cycle periods and expectations of security returns
4   To be able to distinguish subjects that are important about the decisions of security investment.
5   To be able to learn to benefit technical analysis methods related with the timing of security investments.

1 Financial system and capital market: elements, functions, importance. Capital market and real sector relationship
2 The development and the present situation of capital market in Türkiye
3 Instruments of capital market
4 Institutions of capital market
5 Capital market operations and functioning: Primary market (initial market offering, government debt securities bids)
6 Capital market operations and functioning: Secondary market
7 Borsa Istanbul: Stock market orders and operations, price segmentations of stock certificates.
8 Borsa Istanbul: Stock market orders and operations, price segmentations of stock certificates continue. (Midterm exam will be held in this week except the course hour)
9 Borsa Istanbul, functioning and operation rules: share market
10 Markets in Borsa Istanbul, functioning and operation rules: bonds and bills market, the foreign securities market
11 Indexes in BIST: calculation, adjustments, analysis purposed usage
12 Technical analysis: the meaning and the determination of support and resistance levels
13 Technical analysis: definiton of formations and using them for target detection
14 Technical analysis: technical indicators and comments on them

The evaluation of visual and written expression sources related with the presentations and tasks efficiency will be determined according to the run of the course and the functioning of the materials to be used in the course
