Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide knowledge and skill related to imaging systems which are used in diagnostic and interventional radiology units.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to identify conventional and digital Roentgen equipment
2   Being able to identify X rays for perform to radiographic image
3   Being able to determine the parameters that affect the contrast and contrast in radiography
4   Being able to identify Computed Tomography
5   Being able to define fluoroscopic system and its application
6   Being able to identify Mammography systems
7   Being able to identify Magnetic Resonance Imaging systems

1 Introduction to the course and structure of the Roentgen equipment
2 X ray tube and features, X ray production, X rays with matter interaction
3 Formation of the latent image on the radiography Radiographic Parameters Affecting Image Quality ( tube voltage, tube current, exposure time, filtration, focal spot sizes, grid, etc. )
4 Dark room and image press/record methods
5 Digital radiography (CR and DR)
6 The parameters and factors affecting the quality of DR/CR images
7 Mid term exam
8 Computed Tomography
9 Image quality in CT, patient dose and the parameters that affect the dose
10 The Magnetic Resonance Imaging structure
11 Image formation in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging
12 Explanation of the Contrast in MRI
13 Fluoroscopic Systems and its examinations
14 Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA)
15 Conventional and Digital Mammography Systems
