Course Objective

The course focuses on current issues and theories in the field of psychology of leadership that constitute the multidisciplinary approach to the developmental psychology and social psychology. It is aimed to provide the students with knowledge about the current studies and findings related to the earliest influences on leadership development, and development leadership throughout childhood and adolescence.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to outline the current research methods in social and developmental psychology when conducting research in early leadership development.
2   To be able to describe and summarize how early influences set the stage for the development of both the motivation and the skills necessary for successful leadership.
3   To be able to identify and differentiate the development of leadership in childhood and adolescence.
4   To be able to illustrate the knowledge in early developmental characteristics as a tool for understanding how leaders emerge and develop.
5   To be able to debate the ways gender stereotypes and perceptions of gender roles influence the development of leaders.
6   To be able to appraise how gender and race affect early development of self-concepts as a leader and how they influence the emergence and development of leadership skills.

Assessment Criteria

In total, one midterm and one final will be conducted. There will be multiple selection, short answer and open-ended questions in the levels of wide range of knowledge, comprehension, analysis, interpretation and synthesis for all exams.
