Course Objective

The objective of this course is to introduce students to the study of macroeconomics at the advanced level.The rigorous models and optimization techniques will be used to present and analyze macroeconomic theories. The goal is to provide students with a deeper understanding of macroeconomic theories as well as broader knowledge of the main policy issues which these theories applies.

2   Understand the concepts such as intertemporal choice, the dynamic firm behavior, and fiscal and technological shocks
3   Apply mathematical and analytical tools to analyze macroeconomic phenomena

Assessment Criteria

1. The midterm and final exams will be based on questions which evaluate understanding and synthesis of topics explained and discussed in the course.

2. Assignments will be based on article reports and problem sets.
The article report will be evaluated according to the following criteria: topic, purpose, technique, results and grammar of the article.
The problem sets will be evaluated according to the following criteria: definition of the problem, graphical analysis or demonstration of mathematical steps, final result and analysis of the result.
