Course Objective

- To reveal the social, cultural and political background and the reasons for their differentiation, their formation processes, beliefs and ideas, their members, their spreading regions, their contributions to Islamic thought, which have occurred throughout the history of Islam and have a religious character

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gains knowledge of the basic sources, methods and concepts of the History of Islamic Sects.
2   Learns the main factors (religious texts, politics, social change, human element, ancient culture and civilizations) that are effective in the emergence of religious and political Islamic sects.
3   Acknowledges that people may have different points of view in understanding and interpreting religion; Learns different understandings and views in Islamic thought.
