Course Objective

The objective of this course is to introduce what kind of a type of knowledge the logic is and classical Aristotelian logic

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of the course, the student will be able to distinguish logic from other type of knowledge,
2   to know basic principles and concepts of traditional logic,
3   to make analysis by using the principles of traditional logic,
4   to adapt the principles of traditional logic to today's world.
5   to explain the concepts and principles of traditional logic to other people.

1 INTRODUCTION TO TRADITIONAL LOGIC: What is logic Logic and Philosophy. A short histroy of the logic
2 INTRODUCTION TO TRADITIONAL LOGIC: basic concepts and principles of traditional logic.
3 LOGIC OF TERMS: Basic concepts.
4 LOGIC OF TERMS: Types of inference
5 LOGIC OF TERMS: Contrapositive inferences.
6 LOGIC OF PROPOSITIONS: Basic concepts.
7 LOGIC OF PROPOSITIONS: Categorical propositions logic.
8 Midterm exam.
9 LOGIC OF SYLLOISMS: Basic concepts. Types of inference. Contrapositive inferences.
10 LOGIC OF SYLLOISMS: Equivalence inferences.
11 LOGIC OF SYLLOISMS: Categorical syllogism.
12 LOGIC OF SYLLOISMS: Non-categorical syllogism
13 MODERN LOGIC: Introduction to modern logic. Truth tables.
14 MODERN LOGIC: Analysis of truth tables. MODERN LOGIC: Analysis of truth tables.
