Course Objective

To give basic issues related to the theoretical and practical content of the chess to the students of Faculty of Engineering.

4   To understand and implement the chess tactics

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Chess. History and significance. In Türkiye and in the world of chess.Location of the chess board features. Vertical, horizontal, cross paths.The names of the central square of squares.Pieces.Moves of the pieces.The power of pieces.
2 Attack and defense.Capturing. Protection, escape, entering the piece together, take piece.Piece variations. Equal exchanges, winning material. Unprotected or inadequately protected by the pieces.
3 Check and getting out of check.Take piece, put between check the piece, running together. MATE.Mate in one.
4 MATE.Mating with the Rook,Quenn,Bishop,Knight,Pawn.
5 Special moves: Castling, pawn promotion, en passant. The short mate samples.
6 Double attack: Attack targets: the King, the pieces, the important squares
7 Draws.Stalemate..The rules of the game
8 Notation, chess clock, slow, fast, blitz when the tempos.Rules.
9 Tactics: Double attack,by opening the attack, Check by opening double check; Tactics: The pin,fork..Combinations
10 Midterm exam
11 Opening: policies: A-Central challenge; B-development of pieces; C-King's moved to a secure location; D-Plan phase
12 In the middle of the game ideas: improving their pieces.
13 Endgame techniques: Opozisyon, entering the square,passed pawn
14 Checkmate mate in two of different pieces.Combinations
