Course Objective

This course is designed for the purpose of rehabilitation during and after the treatment and / or used as an aid to help you all the tools and orthotic treatment of the design process, application areas, types, indications and contraindications to teach. Another purpose of prosthetic technology, pre / post amputation and prosthetic pre-post period to teach physiotherapy and rehabilitation approaches.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows the basic principles and concepts of related biomechanical orthoses.
2   Knows the area of use orthotics, you can design patient-specific or disease.
3   Knows indication to the appropriate orthotic applications, the orthosis used or aids and test the suitability of the equipment
4   The stundent can combine orthotic rehabilitation process applications with appropriate timing.
5   The student can follow the development of site-specific and can reflect the application.
6   The stundent can define the functional parts of a prosthesis from a clinical perspective amputation surgery and functional relationship
7   The student can apply pre-post amputation and prosthetic rehabilitation approaches periods
8   The student can apply post-prosthetic daily activities to develop and implement site-specific techniques to return to normal life.

1 The basic principles and purposes of the orthosis
2 Clinical decision making and application of orthoses and assistive devices in conditions of disease, disability and impairments related to the foot and ankle: Insoles, foot and ankle orthoses, supra/infra malleoler orthoses, DAFOs and DFOs GENERAL PRINCIPLES
3 Clinical decision making and application of orthoses and assistive devices in conditions of disease, disability and impairments related to the foot and ankle: Insoles, foot and ankle orthoses, supra/infra malleoler orthoses, DAFOs and DFOs ADULTHOOD
4 Clinical decision making and application of orthoses and assistive devices in conditions of disease, disability and impairments related to the knee and hip: Hip-KAFOs, KAFOs, Off-the-shelf and custom knee orthoses, contracture orthoses
5 Clinical decision making and application of orthoses and assistive devices in conditions of disease, disability and impairments related to the spinal column: Cervical, Thoracal, TLSO, CTLSO
6 Clinical decision making and application of orthoses and assistive devices in conditions of disease, disability and impairments related to the spinal column: Scoliosis and trunk braces
7 Clinical decision making and application of orthoses and assistive devices in conditions of disease, disability and impairments related to the upper extremity
8 Orthotic principles in pediatric rehabilitation
9 Historical development and causes of amputation surgery; historical development of prosthetic technology
10 Lower and upper extremity amputations, prosthetics components
