Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the individual the importance of traditional Turkish arts, the contributions of the economics and the development process and to have sufficient knowledge about traditional Turkish handicrafts such as weaving, printing, glass, metal, wood, stone, tile-ceramics and so on.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Define traditional Turkish art concepts.
2   2. Know the importance of traditional Turkish arts, economic contributions and development process.
3   3. Distinguish motifs and figures within the scope of traditional Turkish arts.
4   4. Interpret the meaning of traditional motifs and figures in composition.
5   5. Distinguish the samples of traditional Turkish handicrafts such as weaving, printing, glass, metal, wood, stone, tile-ceramics and so on.

5 Historical development of traditional Turkish arts (Selçuks).
6 Historical development of traditional Turkish arts (Beylikler Period).
7 Historical development of traditional Turkish arts (Ottoman Period).
8 Institutions and institutions related to the Turkish arts in the Republican era.
9 Classification of traditional Turkish arts according to material and technique.
10 Weaving (carpet-rug, fabric, etc.), printing, felt arts.
11 Wood arts (Kündekari, carving, mother-of-pearl inlay).
12 Glass arts (stained glass, glass ware, beads, etc.)
