Course Objective

The aim of this course; to create awareness in students about the environment and sustainability, to make them comprehend the interrelationships of these issues, to enable them to think critically about the goals of sustainable development, and to enable them to comment and discuss about a sustainable environment and life.

1   Define the concepts of environment and sustainability,
2   Discuss the causes of environmental problems,
3   Can list the objectives of sustainable development,
4   Explain the interaction process of sustainable development and environment,
5   List the indicators and indices of sustainable development,
6   Criticize sustainable environmental policies,
7   Integrate sustainability into the environment and life.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in presentations, association of concepts with each other, establishing the cause-result relationships and making comments by using the information available for problems and evaluating idea generation are carried out with mid-term and final exams, active participation to the lecture, homework.

I. Midterm exam: 25%
II. Homework: 25%
III. Final exam: 50%
IV. Resit exam
