Course Objective

The purposes of this course are to give the basic knowledge about technical drawing, to draw the different views of the objects and to understand the technical drawings of a new design. Also another purpose of this course is to draw the horizontal and vertical cross-sections of the objects and to understand the perspective drawing techniques.

1   To use the technical drawing tools appropriate to their purposes
2   To draw according to propeties and dimensions of a technical drawing paper
3   To draw the standart lines and appropriate writings
4   To use planes of projections, projection methods and view extraction methods
5   To understand the projection and appearance of the basic shapes
6   To draw the perspectives of the given objects
7   To draw the cross-sections of the givern objects

3 Text and numbers, writing applications, lines and their types, line applications
4 Geometric drawings, polygon drawings
5 Projections; projections of points, lines, planes,
6 Removing the appearance, determining the detail of the part, determining its layout and detail
7 Drawing of single-view and two-view parts
8 Drawing of single-view and two-view parts
9 General review, Course evaluation, Midterm exam
10 Definition of perspective, its types, drawing perspectives of simple geometric objects.
11 Sectioning and its rules, full section and half section drawings.
12 Stepped section, partial section, rotated section drawings
13 Dimensioning rules, dimensioning practices, dimensioning of sections and perspectives
14 Dimensioning rules, dimensioning practices, dimensioning of sections and perspectives

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course will be taught theoretically, practically and by giving homeworks. Instructor will give the drawings in the classroom and teach how to draw it by discussions using question and answers. Also practical homeworks will be given for better understanding.
