Course Objective

History of the mosaics art. Mosaics art in the ancient Anatolian civilizations. Ancient mosaic production techniques. Historical development and present situation of the mosaic art. Mosaic production materials. Application areas of mosaics. Design of mosaics (art and industrial types). Techniques of mounting of mosaics. Drying, control and packing of the mosaics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability of defining the historical development of mosaic art
2   Gain information on mosaic production machinery and other hand-tools
3   Ability to define the chemicals and other materials used in mosaic production.
4   Ability of drawing and designing mosaic products
5   Be able to show how industrial mosaics are produced and applied

3 General knowledge of the mosaics art in the polytheistic religions era and application examples. Mosaics applications of the monotheistic religion era.
4 What are the art type mosaic design and production techniques, and their application
5 Art type mosaic application studies.
6 Contemporary applications of art type mosaics and their application studies.
7 Materials used in contemporary mosaics art and their application examples.
8 MID-TERM EXAM
9 What is industry type mosaics What are the equipment used for producing industry type mosaics
10 What are mosaics templates, and production techniques of the materials to be applied to the templates
11 Model design studies of industrial type mosaics.
12 Methods of drying the produced mosaics.
13 Maintenance, wrapping and packing of the produced mosaics
14 Apllication forms of the mosaics by the end-user
