Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the laboratory instruments and their uses, the cleaning and maintenance of the laboratory instruments and the safety rules in the laboratory.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Follow the laboratory safety rules.
2   Define the laboratory materials and their uses.
3   Use the balance, pH meter, pipettes, centrifuges, spectrophotometer, prepare solutions and make incubation.
4   Define laboratory glassware and plasticware and their uses.
5   Knows working methods with biological fluids and stores biological fluids under appropriate conditions.
6   Define SI unit system.
7   Converts units from different systems.
8   It can perform solution preparation and dilution operations by calculating.

1 (Theoretical):Introducing, Presentation of the aims and objectives of the course (Application):Laboratory safety and working principles in the laboratory
2 (Theoretical): Introduction of materials used in the laboratory (Glass, Plastic etc.) (Application): Use and cleaning of glass materials, use of disposable materials
3 (Theoretical):Balances and Weighing methods (Application): Balance usage and Weighing operation
4 (Theoretical): Rules to be followed in the use of glass and automatic pipettes (Application): Glass and Automatic pipette use
5 (Theoretical): Water used in the laboratory and its properties (Application): Storage of liquids used in the laboratory
6 (Theoretical): Distillation processes, obtaining distilled water, pH measurement methods (Application): pH measurement of various liquids
7 (Theoretical): Unit systems and unit conversion calculations (Application): Unit systems and unit conversion calculations applications
8 (Theoretical): Points to be considered in solution preparation (Application): Solution preparation methods
9 (Theoretical): Centrifuge types and usage areas (Application): Centrifuge use
10 (Theoretical): Methods of working with biological fluids (Application): Storage of various biological fluids (blood, urine, stool, body fluids..) under appropriate conditions
