Course Objective

Students taking this course to learn basic rules of organic farming products which is increasingly growing production area and importance in Turkey and in the world. Also be able to evaluate advantages and disadvantages of organic farming system altough other agricultere systems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to evaluate organic farming system and phasses.
2   Being able to explain relationship between organic farming system, environmental pollution and sustainable soil fertility.
3   Being able to discuss the role of alternative plant nutrition materials and renewable source in organic farming.
4   Being able to evaluate positive relations between organic farming system and human health.
5   Being able to put forward differences of organic farming system than other agriculture systems and which is the basic agriculture system that can supply food require of the increasing world s population by healthy ways.

3 Organic farming techniques I (Land choices for organic farming,soil tillage, increase and protect soil fertility)
4 Organic farming techniques II (Agriculture 4.0/5.0 technologies for organic farming)
5 Organic matter and plant nutrients use in organic farming (Plant residues, green matures, microorganisms, compost)
6 Crop rotation in organic farming (Basic principles, avilable rotation samples to fruit and vegetables)
7 Crop rotation in organic farming (Basic principles, avilable rotation samples to fruit and vegetable species)
8 Mid-Term Exam
9 Plant protection in organic farming (Basic principles, passive protection techniques)
10 Plant protection in organic farming (soil health, soil rotation, resistant specie,mixed farming, manuring, weeds)
11 Harvest of organic products, classification of organicproducts, packing and storage
