Course Objective

This course; industrial and hand weaving, tufting, felt, interlining, compression, needling, sewing, spinning, etc. with innovative ideas. Techniques such as interior, clothing fabrics or floor textiles such as tufted carpets, felt mats are intended for making. It is aimed to create creative textile product designs for the target audience in line with current trends with the possibilities offered by traditional and innovative materials and techniques. In this context, mass production suggestions will be presented when deemed necessary for functional textiles designed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to benefit from visual and written sources, to create their own original visual and written data. Developing creative, innovative and original aesthetic approaches in line with these data
2   Realizing creative, innovative, fabric, floor, wall covering and decorative textile designs in accordance with the integrity of the chosen subject with different textile techniques,
3   Creative, innovative and aesthetically chosen subject in his designs. to establish a relationship between color, form and material in its integrity
4   To be able to make technical-detail analyzes, to have the ability to select and recommend advanced technology materials and production methods suitable for the design,
5   To turn the design into a product,
6   To offer industrial solution suggestions when necessary

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Lessons
The instructor guides the students to design for their chosen starting points, target audience and application areas, either freely or in line with current fashion trends. It directs them to produce solutions for the issues that will arise during the design and production phase and asks them to present their opinions in writing and visually (production reports, storybook describing the design process, presentation sheet, product, etc.).

2. Review Sessions and Class Discussions
During the design phase, review sessions will be held by the faculty member in the first and last hour of the course every week, based on the time given for creating sketches and selecting the main designs. In-class work and homework will form the basis of the problems to be solved in these sessions. Students will be strongly encouraged to participate in class discussions and present their views on their designs.

3. Applications
During the transition from design to production, students were asked to choose `Computer Aided Design and Production will design by using the information they have learned in their lessons and other technical lessons and will support their applications with this information. Sample applications will be shown to students in this regard.

Course Policies and Rules

1. It is compulsory to attend 70% of the course.
2. Any attempt to plagiarize will result in actual disciplinary action.
3. Not attending the course will not be considered as a valid excuse for late submission of homework and projects.
4. In delayed project submissions, there will be a score reduction equivalent to one letter grade for each delayed day.
