Course Objective

This lecture aimes to teach phases to form an item involving definition of textile printing, its technogical evolution from manual process to screen printing, uses, basic rapport know-how for mass production and surface printing design and practice.

2   Knowledge of practical forms of block wood and metal printing in Anatolia and the world

4   Rollers printing machineries
5   Screen printing and its associate applications
6   Ability to create printing surface based on basic pattern with simple repeate

1 Information on textile printing and its origin, discussion of primary printing examples and types of related concepts
2 Application of block printing. Examples of block printing in Anatolia and diffrent cultures
3 Perrotine printing machines and their evolutionary importance. Copper plate printing and its textile applications. Roller printing machinery and its importance in textile processes
4 Uses purposes and bases of printing surface and rapporting processes
5 Fundamentals of collection and combined designing and phases of textile printing from the inspration step to a finished item
6 Midterm exam
7 Definition of stencil printing, examples of stencile printing in textile arts, application of stencil printing
8 Evolution of screen printing, features of flat screen printing and roller printing machines, their patterns printed
9 Development of graphic design for item

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The lecture will provide students with general knowledge of definition, terms and historical development of textile printing as well as process needed for mass production, according to which students will learn how to prepare concept board form a surface design throuht skecthes and rapoort it in the light of acquired data of the processes. They will also perform the graphic design in screen printing for an item which they would choose and present and printing processes and items involving screen printing in a catalogue.
