Course Objective

It is aimed to teach reserve dyeing techniques theoretically and practically. Reservation techniques applied with physical (binding-dyeing, stitched reserve, compression) and natural materials closure will be taught to the student through workshop practices. It is aimed for the student to transform the reserved dyeing methods into products on clothing forms.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1.Having technical knowledge and equipment about painting
2   2. To be able to dye cellulosic and animal origin textile materials such as silk, wool, cotton with dyeing recipes.
3   3. To be able to apply reserve techniques applied by physical (binding-dyeing, stitched reservation, etc.) method on woven fabric.
4   4. To be able to apply the reserve techniques made by applying the sealing process (batik) with natural substances
5   5. To be competent in batik applications by changing the proportions of the reserve material consisting of beeswax and paraffin in batik technique, by obtaining different marble-like effects.
6   6. To be able to apply the Shibori dyeing method
7   7. Applying reserve dyeing techniques on clothing jerseys and transforming them into products

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Technical information about dyeing and necessary dyeing recipes are explained theoretically. In the light of this information, application studies are carried out in the workshop. Studies on international platforms related to each painting technique are analyzed with visual presentations. In addition, student studies made in previous years are examined in the form of questions and answers, and the subject is consolidated. The student practices each painting technique in the workshop.
