Course Objective

This course introduces students to basic design principles and visual design elements, while enabling them to discover their own creative design identities through research, experimentation and conceptualization, and aims to transform them into original clothing products.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1 1. Explaining the basic principles of design and design elements through examples 11. Transfer of patterns to fabric, determination of cutting, sewing and application stages

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. The instructor introduces the students to the basic design principles and visual design elements, asks the students to present and present their original design ideas in line with the basic design principles (report, storyboard, presentation sheet, etc.)
2. Sketching and design process review sessions by the instructor will significantly encourage students to think about potential problems and present their opinions.
3. During the transition from design to production, students will be able to experience how to use the knowledge they have learned in Basic Pattern, Technical Drawing, Computer Aided Fashion Design courses and other technical and artistic courses with a sample application.

Assessment Criteria

In the course evaluation phase, first of all, the creativity in the designs, the innovative approach, the parallelism with the chosen starting point, the suitability of the selected materials and application technique in the transition from design to production, and the overlap of the resulting product with the design will be scored.

Course Policies and Rules

1. It is compulsory to attend 80% of the course.
2. Any attempt to plagiarize and result in actual disciplinary action.
3. Not attending the course will not be considered as a valid excuse for late submission of homework and projects.
