Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach design research, color knowledge, presentation techniques, methods and application in leather clothing design in the scope of leather clothing design and improvement process.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to apply key elements of leather clothing design such as color, texture and production methods in design
2   To be able make a connection between color and form in the specified theme from the aspects of creativity, innovation and aestheticism
3   To be able to be familiar with the material and perform a design up to the material,
4   To be able to prepare the technical sketches in production process and provide the necessary job stream
5   To be able to determine the target group correctly

Course Contents

1 In consideration of fair evaluations and market data, the trends are interpreted and discussed based on the searching methods employed in leather clothing designs.
2 Interaction points and new design alternatives are formed in accordance with the project topic.
3 Texture research is done.

5 Analysis of employed techniques and materials with in the scope of various techniques and research
6 Sketch design studies
7 Delivery of sketch file Analysis upon the sketch file and the selection of designs with the students
8 Drawing and detailing of technical developments of designs
9 Preparation of introduction sheet
10 Delivery of introduction sheet 2. project topic; discussion on interaction points and material features
11 Forming a design sketch file on the project topic
12 Delivery of sketch files Analysis of sketch files and design selections with students

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.Courses
The lecturer of this course guides students to generate solutions on starting points, target group and application areas they determined by them in accordance with current fashion trends and wants them to submit their thoughts in black and white and visually (report, presentation sheet, an anecdote notebook with the design process inside).
2. Revision sessions and class discussions
Revision sessions are held at the first and the last classes of each week on the basis of given time for the elections of designs. Sketch and presentation files form the basis of the problems that will be solved in these sessions. Students are encouraged significantly for taking part in the class discussions and presenting their ideas about their designs.

1. There is an 80 % obligation in attendance to lesson.
2. All plagiarism attempts and actions would end up in disciplinary punishment
3. Nonattendance to the lesson, not performing the required responsibilities will not be accepted.
4. For late project deliveries, decreasing a letter grade for each day will be applied.
