Course Objective

In this course; evolution of leather from the phase of tanning to finishings and its uses in leather products with materials and accessories is taught. By the end of this course, the student has to be capable of presenting the knowledge learned in this course using scientific methods as well.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Course and its processes:
Instructor gives information on types of leather, using samples and visual presentation. Students complete the required preparatory work for the following lesson. Instructor informs the students on using leather types with alternative materials and achieves the participation of students in the lesson by sustaining their comments on the subject.
2. Research Topics and Presentations:
Instructor explains the research methods within the Leather and Leather Products Material Knowledge course and the preparations made for the research are checked. Students make visual and literary presentations of their researches on designated date. Research files are handed in.

Assessment Criteria

The participation of the students attending the course, their interest in the course, the quality of their research and their performance in their presentations will be taken into consideration.
