Course Objective

The aims of this lesson are lecturing students all the basic production principles and rules in footwear and leather craft work production group; students abilities to prepare an image sheet and colour scheme on a specified theme and using theme in their designs; performing texture, colour and form practice in accordance with the basic design principles; by making evaluations via the first known productions, enabling students to have an idea on design methods, design improvement and technical analysis and getting them prepare sample projects on determined themes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learn and use the design process information in footwear and leather craft product group
2   Perform analysis on specified theme, prepare an image sheet and colour scheme and use these on their designs, to develop and present original and creative ideas on texture, colour, form by using the knowledge on basic design principles and use these on their product design
3   Perform creative and original formalization and develop design by using the provided basic design principles
4   Perform the technical and detail analysis of designed products
5   Defend his / her designs and presentations, have the ability of expressing his / her ideas literally or visually in front of the evaluation jury within the scope of Footwear and Leather craft Product Design II

Course Contents

1 Explaining the spring term project information includes ; Reminding the knowledge on the design process of footwear and leather craft product group Performing the texture, colour and form practice in accordance with the basic design principles; explaining the formation and design methods and supporting a Project that will be prepared in accordance with the specified topic in order to strenthening the knowledge.
2 Image sheet study and preparation of a colour scheme, getting the original texture-material design study
3 Sketch and sketch improvement period
4 Design process
5 Approval of designs and the transition of presentation sheet information
6 Checking of design and presentation sheet
7 It includes; 1. Project for the jury 2. Explaining the project information the delivery of Project Explaining the design improvement and the analysis of technical detail information in accordance with the design principles and supporting a Project that will be prepared in accordance with the specified topic in order to strengthening the knowledge
8 Story board study and the preparation of a colour scheme, getting the texture and material designs
9 Sketch and sketch improvement period
10 Transition to the design and design improvement process
11 Approval of designs; performing the design analysis
12 Checking of the design and technical analysis
13 Presentation sheet controls

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Within this course; The lecturer reminds the information on design process for Footwear and Leather Craft Product. She / he gets students texture, colour, form practice in accordance with the basic design principles and gets students to prepare samples on specified theme. The first step is to prepare an image sheet and a colour scheme, design material designs and perform sketch study; three dimensional drawing and then sketch studies are performed during this process. Comments and technical analysis on sketches are made for improvement and the presentation methods are discussed.

1. Performance of students during the sketch and application period,
2. Their performance in front of the evaluation jury (their abilities of defending their designs, technical and presentation sheets and products) will be taken into consideration at course evaluation stage.

Course Policies and Rules

1.There is an 80 % obligation in attendance to lesson.
2. All plagiarism attempts and actions would end up in disciplinary punishment
3. If one doesn t hand over the required sketch- design studies on time, the evaluation would be carried out by taking this into consideration. But the student is supposed to hand over required things.
