Course Objective

It is aimed to teach how to make unique designs and how to form a accessories and jewelery collection in accordance with the design criterion including ergonomics and anthropometric in the process from color and fabric studies used in the illustration of accessories and jewelery, which take part within fashion accessories product group to the design and presentation state (thought, draft, sketch, design, material selection and presentation).

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to make illustration in the form, color and fabrics that can reflect the product correctly in the stage of designing accessories and jewelry
2   To be able to develop innovative, creative and unique ideas in accessories and jewelry area
3   To be able to transform his/her innovative, creative and unique ideas in accessories and jewelry area into design
4   To have information about the criterion of accessories and jewelry design and to be able to make designs accordingly
5   To be able to perform material selection of the product he/she designs as an accessory or jewelry
6   To be able to determine production technical of the product he/she designs as an accessory or jewelry
7   To be able to prepare presentation sheet/sheets, which involve the illustration and technical initiative of the design in a way to transfer the required details to the other party
8   To be able to clearly express and defend designs, technical initiatives and presentation works that he/she prepared before evaluation jury within the scope of Accessory and Jewelry Design I Course

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1- Research:
Educator of the course carries out the initiative of the Project provided within the scope of the course (explains the expected performance as a part of the Project), and talks about the process of the Project. He/she makes suggestions about solution and directs students to generate solutions. He/she wants students to make visual and literary researches as a part of the Project.2- Process of Sketch and Design:
At the end of the research, sketches of the students are evaluated within a time period that all of the classroom can participate as of the first hour of the class and its conformity with the Project, its authentic and its criteria to transform into design ,are discussed and by providing not only the educator but also the students to be able to comment about the sketches, an environment in which they can perform brainstorm is constituted. Elected sketches are transformed into design within the scope of design criterion and creative power of the student.3- Period of Representation and Production and Evaluation of Jury

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1- The evaluation will be performed by considering the research that the student made related to the assigned Project, his/her performance from the sketch time period to the end of design (producing ideas, revealing creative and unique designs, design analysis within the course and his/her participation to the evaluation time periods intellectually and verbally), conformity of the designs with the project, his/her success in the material election of designs and determining manufacturing techniques, reproducibility and usability of the designs in accordance with the project (ergonomic), conformity of technical and presentation sheets of the designs with the design presentation criteria,
2- And by paying attention to the performance of the student before evaluation jury (to be able to defend his/her designs, technical and presentation sheets)

Assessment Criteria

Evaluation for all design Project will be carried out in a way to cover the sketch time period as well. Time period of improving sketch and design constitutes minimum 50% of the grading for design.

Course Policies and Rules

1. Attendance to 80% of classes is compulsory. 2. All kinds of plagiarizing attempt results in actual disciplinary punishment. 3. In the event that assigned researches, required sketch-design studies etc. are not brought on the date announced by the student, evaluation is carried out as per the mentioned circumstances, however the student is obliged to bring the required materials. Not participating the class will not accepted as an excuse to not fulfilling course obligations.
